Press release…..
This weekend we organise an auction to generate much needed funds to restore Thoor Ballylee. The Auction will take place this Sunday 31st of May from 17.00 in Thoor Ballylee, Gort, Co. Galway (2 hours from Dublin).
There is a diverse range of items going on sale reflecting the generosity and breath of support for this vital cultural project, from a local sheep to rare literary works.
Uniquely, the auction will take place from the rooftop of the tower by local Auctioneer, Colm Farrell MIPAV, acting as William Butler Yeats.
Funds raised will be used to re-open the Tower to the public.
To learn more about our exciting project, retrieve a list of auction items and view a fun publicity video please check: http://yeatsthoorballylee.org
With funds raised, the Society will deliver a world class Cultural Centre in the tower which would provide a huge attraction for the area and boost tourism revenues for the region. The tower will accommodate a new Yeats exhibition, a cafe, bookshop, and space for exhibitions, lectures and classes.
